Pitch, cold email, and sign your first clients: Now it’s time to go after clients. Mention them in your content. Reach out to them over email or LinkedIn. Tailor your pitch to show what kind of value you bring to the table. (You can even read my personal cold email templates).
Next, you need to include a list of your credentials. However, don’t just give point after point of accomplishments; be sure to state exactly how each of your credentials is going to translate into a benefit for your clients. Don’t make the critical mistake of assuming that visitors to your site can make this leap on their own. Clearly spell out the benefits you offer in your sales copy. For example, if you’re a real estate agent with certification in housing inspection, you shouldn’t just tell your visitors “I’m a certified housing inspector.” Instead you should say, “Not only can I find the best home in the best location for you and your family, but as a certified housing inspector, I can give you an accurate assessment of the home’s structural soundness and let you know about any potential problems to make sure you avoid getting stuck with costly repairs in the years to come!” Doesn’t that sound better than “I’m a certified housing inspector”? Make the benefit obvious!
I planned to pin this to a Pinterest board by the time I was done reading it, but Pinterest rejects it simply because there is no image to be found on this page that can be used. Which gave me one more idea that you should add to this list…a business plan to seek out good articles with plenty of content out there that need photos! LoL not trying to be a smart ass, but since getting more and more into Pinterest, I can definitely see opportunity in taking content that already exists and retrofitting it for multiple platforms for continued exposure. Could be as simple as blog writers handing their article over to a company for review, in order to decide what types of media can be plugged into it that compliment the article and the point. To me, it almost seems as easy as a service offering to translate articles from one language to another by someone who is fluent in both. If I wrote blogs, I’d consider almost having a checklist of all types of media and platforms that I’d try and hit every single one of them with each story or post written.
Sign up for a reputable affiliate network: Aside from Amazon, there are dozens of large reputable affiliate networks, such as Share-A-Sale, Clickbank, and Skimlinks, that specialize in connecting you with merchants who are looking for affiliates to sell their products. They charge relatively low commission fees for the privilege of connecting you with merchants, and the merchants on these sites tend to offer much higher commission percentages or set dollar amount payouts.
